Dana Kralicek receives the John Stephen's Jr. Memorial Award at this year's MS&E Commencement!

The award was established in memory of Dr. Stephens who worked in Professor Nix's group and obtained his Ph.D. degree in 1985. The award recognizes the student most thought, in the broadest sense, to have been an inspiration to other students in the Department, as was John during and after his time here. John passed away in 2007 after a highly successful materials science career in spite of his affliction with cystic fibrosis for many years, a condition which most of the students were unaware of.
